Peace and Hope International hosts FREE TO BE in Durham
A Fundraiser and Cultural Celebration event
Durham, NC – Children ought to be free to play, free to learn, free to grow, free to dream. Children ought to be free to BE. Parents and adults around the world desire this for their children. Peace and Hope International is hosting FREE TO BE: a fundraiser and cultural celebration as we continue to work towards a future where all children are free to be kids.
Peace and Hope International invites you to be a part of something big. As a human rights and peacebuilding organization, Peace and Hope has been working for decades to make a real impact, particularly for children and communities who experience violence. The restoration they have witnessed over the years is inspiring, and gives us further resolve to be a part of making a difference for kids who are vulnerable.
Join us on October 7 at the Durham Bottling Company as we celebrate this past year and raise funds to further increase the impact. Founded in Peru and now located in 6 Latin American countries, we will be celebrating the beautiful culture, dance and music of Latin America as we learn more about Peace and Hope. “We focus on preventing violence against people who live in poverty, especially children and women.” says Dr. Nina Balmaceda, President of Peace and Hope International, who was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Balmaceda is a scholar-practitioner as the Associate Director at the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School. “I am so very excited about this opportunity,” she continues, “come learn about the restoration work taking place through local teams in Latin America.”
