Peace and Hope International hosts HOPE IN ACTION in Durham
A Fundraiser and Cultural Celebration event
Durham, NC – Peace and Hope is committed to seeing Latin America’s vulnerable communities live dignified lives free from violence and injustice. Peace and Hope International invites you to be a part of something big as they host HOPE IN ACTION: a local fundraiser and cultural celebration.
As a human rights and peacebuilding organization, Peace and Hope has been working for decades to make a real impact, particularly for vulnerable people and communities who experience violence. It is a steadfast hope that drives this work. It is hope that brings us together. And it is with hope that we look to strengthen and expand our efforts to cultivate peace and justice.
Join us on October 5 at The Durham Exchange at ReCity as we celebrate this past year and raise funds to further this work. Founded in Peru and now located in 8 Latin American countries, we will be celebrating the beautiful culture, dance and music of Latin America and sharing about the impact. “Peace and Hope’s transformative work in Latin America is a model of grassroots mobilization for justpeace and neighborly love,” says Dr. Nina Balmaceda, President of Peace and Hope International. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Balmaceda is a scholar-practitioner as the Associate Director at the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School. “We do this in direct collaboration with the local community,” she continues, “with a focus on preventing violence of all kinds, and transforming culture towards more dialogue, equity and respect for the fundamental rights of all.”
