Entering 2025 with Hope

Peace and Hope (Paz y Esperanza) has been a beacon of resilience in Latin America, tirelessly advocating for marginalized communities for decades. Motivated by Christian faith, the organization confronts systemic injustices through strategic approaches: legal advocacy, community empowerment, and direct support for individuals facing discrimination and violence.

The organization has achieved remarkable breakthroughs, from landmark legal reforms to grassroots initiatives that restore dignity and create sustainable pathways for healing. Their work demonstrates how persistent hope and strategic action can transform seemingly insurmountable obstacles, proving that light can overcome darkness even in the most challenging environments.

As we enter 2025—a year of both promise and uncertainty—we invited Paz y Esperanza leaders to share their insights on maintaining hope and commitment. Their learned wisdom offers inspiration for those dedicated to bringing light to the world’s darkest corners. How can a person see God at work in our world of violence and upheaval, especially when faced with atrocities on a daily and weekly basis in their own communities?

“God’s shalom is manifested in the midst of all this reality of latent violence that our country is experiencing: through people, communities of faith, NGO organizations and the Ecuadorian state that work together for justice, law, well-being and peace, thus building a safer and more prosperous society. This path of transformation is what we desire for our nation, and may the glory of our God shine unceasingly in many of our generations.”

– Alfonso López, pastor of Amor y Fe Baptist Church in Ecuador

In the face of horror, Pastor Alfonso continues working with Paz y Esperanza as a coordinator for a project focused on the prevention of sexual violence. May we all be inspired by his faithful service, love of justice, and example of keeping hope in the midst of turmoil. Thank you for YOUR dedication to justice and human dignity through your support of Peace and Hope International.
